the minutes

The Minutes is an informal group of artists in Sevilla (Spain). Each week, we meet and swap artworks, then we have a week to produce a new piece inspired by the last piece we received… a kind of artistic Chinese Whispers.

Contact us if you would like to meet and take part or Take part in The Minutes ONLINE project...from anywhere in the world

How does The Minutes project work?

Everyone starts with the same theme. Previous themes have been...
Phase one: the minutes.
Phase two: Alien.
Phase three: Square
Phase four/the current phase: Home

First we make an artwork that reacts to the theme, we then exchange what we make and later react to the piece we received...and continue to exchange the subsequent works
The work that is made each week is recorded and documented on the on line space..the minutes Facebook page
One does not need to be a professional artist to participate

The work does not need to be top top quality every week..it's an idea generating, process based project

No one is obliged to turn up every week but should let the rest of the group know.

You can start a new thread at any point during the project and your first piece will always react to the main theme of the phase. Therefore, at the end of the project phase, there will be longer threads, made by those who started them in the beginning and took part more regularly, and shorter ones by those who started later or didn't exchange weekly or as often as others.

A new member can turn up three times without bringing anything before he/she decides to participate in the group

One can bring anything from paintings to sculpture to music, perfomance, photos, art and crafty things etc....

The place and time does not change regardless of people's availability

one of the first pieces I made for the minutes

The Minutes is a project that started it's first phase in 2008 with the theme "the minutes", but the idea for this project began in 2008 when Thomas and I started an art exchange - we met for breakfast and exchanged work. Then we met Isa and the three of us developed the idea further and formed 'the minutes'. At most there have been 13 people participating at one time.

Some work I made as part of theminutes project:
